Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/27/2021
Featuring arguably the greatest Russian defenseman in history as well as the just the fifth NHL player to reach 700 goals and the youngest player to score 100 points (since eclipsed), the 2001 Hall of Fame inductees included superstars Dale Hawerchuk, Mike Gartner, Jari Kurri, Craig Patrick and Viacheslav Fetisov. Issued by the Royal Canadian Mint and hailing from the personal collection of honouree Dale Hawerchuk, we offer a limited-edition 2001 HHOF Sterling Silver Medallion Collection, accompanied by a limited-edition 2001 24kt gold-plated HHOF Medallion Collection framed display. First, the sterling silver set is housed in its original fold-over leather display case which features both side of the medallions viewable, with all five signing the inside back cover in white ink (a certificate with serial number that mentions “Will Not Exceed 2,001 Sets” is included). The 24kt medallion set features an embossed display of the five players made to resemble stone placed above, with the medallions inserted below (the Hawerchuk and Kurri medallions are detached within the frame), with a plaque at center listing the particulars. Each has signed the matte beneath his respective coin, but the signatures are almost completely worn away. Framed to full dimensions of 18” x 22”, there is wear to the frame to note, with an LOA from the Hawerchuk family to accompany.
