Making an immediate impact in the NHL, demonstrating his hockey prowess early as an All-Star selection in his inaugural season in 1981-82, Dale Hawerchuk was selected first overall by the Winnipeg Jets and set a since-beaten NHL record as the youngest player in history to secure 100 points. This performance helped the Jets improve by 48-points over the previous season, with Dale rightfully earning the Calder Memorial as the top rookie. This 1981-82 NHL rookie of the year plaque was presented to the superstar by The Sporting News. At 9" x 13", the dark-finished wooden plaque with beveled edges features a mounted metal plate with an image of Hawerchuk above and the particulars beneath in raised letters including "The Sporting News", Rookie of the Year - 1981-82" and "Dale Hawerchuk". Light overall wear is exhibited with a few minor marks/blemishes to both the wooden plaque and metal plate, with the award presenting wonderfully. Hailing from the personal collection of Dale Hawerchuk, an LOA from his family will accompany.
