Dominant during his time in the Q with Cornwall which included winning back-to-back Memorial Cup championships in 1980 and 1981, Dale Hawerchuk would earn Rookie of the Year honours along with playoff MVP in 1980, followed by selection as a QMJHL First Team All-Star, Player of the Year and Memorial Cup MVP, in 1981. From his time with Cornwall, we have a handful of desirable items, including a trio of awards presented to Dale, along with his Royals jacket, tie and 6 medals. First, the awards include a pair of matching QMJHL St Hubert French-language shield plaques presented for best offensive player, with "Dale Hawerchuk" engraved to each, with one presented for November 1980, the other, for January 1981 (10" x 13"), while the third is a Lions Club trophy (11"). Next, the Royals nylon jacket is solid white with embroidered Royals crest to the left breast and OHL emblem to the right sleeve. The medals are all approx 2" in diameter or slightly larger with attached ribbons, with "Dale Hawerchuk" engraved to each, with examples included for the Jean Believau (1980-81) and Guy Lafleur Trophies (1979-80). A trio of additional medals preceding his time with Cornwall are also included, with an LOA from the Hawerchuk family to accompany.
The plaques both show wear including marks, scratches and a few small dents, with the metal plate on the 1981 plaque slightly lifted at the base. The Lions Club trophy features a generic mounted player with engraved plaque added to the front, with the particulars engraved including "Dale Hawerchuk" and "Sportsman of the Year", with moderate wear, with the top section able to swivel on the base. The jacket shows wear from use with a few marks and stains, with the French-language medals to include the aforementioned trophy examples, along with "1st Star", "Association of QMJHL Journalists", "the Michel Briere Trophy" and one other. The additional medals are for OHA Jr B All-Star (1978-79), "Sr Boy" (1977) and "ODMSA Cup Winner 1977".
