Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Two of the most valuable components in the well-oiled machine that was the dominant Montreal Canadiens of the 1950s, we have signed photos featuring legendary Habs superstars Doug Harvey and Boom Boom Geoffrion, accompanied by a trimmed section from a 1952 CCM Matched Sets advertising display that features the Quebec Aces and Jean Beliveau, and a 1950s photo of Jacques Plante. First, the Harvey and Geoffrion photos are both 8” x 10”, with the Harvey a team-issued example from his time in St Louis, signed in blue ballpoint with “Best Wishes” added. The Geoffrion is a Canadiens team-issued image by David Bier, with Boom Boom signing in dark ink, adding a personalization. Both photos show moderate wear, with the Geoffrion signature quite faded but easily legible. The thick cardboard CCM display segment is approx 9 ½” x 12” and pictures the full Aces team including big Jean, with light surface and edge wear, with the bottom border cut uneven. Lastly, the 6 1/4" x 7 1/2" Plante photo shows the iconic netminder maskless in game-action vs Toronto, with a few surface wrinkles visible and toning and glue marks on the reverse.
