Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
A little Topps hockey card action here is headlined by a crease-free (EX) 1970-71 Bobby Orr card, issued after the young man’s dream season that saw him become the first and only d-man in history to win the NHL scoring championship, score the Stanley Cup-winning goal and claim four major individual trophies. A small stain to the left of “Bobby” on the front and less-than-perfect centering is to note. Fellow Hall of Famers contributing to the lot of 17 from ’70-71 are #s 11-P. Esposito (EX), 20-Mikita, 22-F. Mahovlich, 59-Horton and 78-Parent, the latter four all EX-MT or very close, while 11 others include some NMs and average EX-MT. An EX-MT 150-Phil Esposito card is most notable among 21 from ’72-73, with 8-Stanley Cup and All-Star cards of Ratelle, Hadfield, Stapleton and White also present and the group in the EX+ to NM range. A swell compliment is a ’63-64 Toronto Star photo on paper stock of Chicago’s Red Hay, pictured high-sticking Montreal’s Jean Beliveau, with the legend’s classic autograph, in black marker, enhancing the 4-3/4” by 6-3/4” piece.
