Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Joining once again, in collaboration with the Montreal Canadiens, Classic Auctions is pleased to offer a large collection of artifacts and memorabilia from the storied club's comprehensive archives. A number of historic specimens direct from the famous team including unique displays that were once marvelously displayed in the hallowed Montreal Forum and later at the Bell Centre are available, with an endless array of legendary and monumental players featured that all proudly once donned the sacred jersey of the mighty Montreal Canadiens.
A striking piece by renowned artist Michel Lapensee, this limited-edition framed lithograph features the “Road Runner” himself, Yvan Cournoyer. Some fine moments in the Hall of Famer’s career are featured, including winning the Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe Trophy along with the December 31, 1975 game against the Red Army. Numbered 53/100, it also bears the autographs of the artist and the subject in pencil. There are some minor scratches on the front side of the frame, which is understandable since it was on display in hockey’s revered temple. On the reverse, the backing paper shows a small amount of wear and tear. However, this should in no way take away from your enjoyment of this unique item. Direct from the archives of the Montreal Canadiens, this framed display was likely displayed at the Molson Centre/Bell Centre. An LOA from Classic Auctions will be included.
