Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Joining once again, in collaboration with the Montreal Canadiens, Classic Auctions is pleased to offer a large collection of artifacts and memorabilia from the storied club's comprehensive archives. A number of historic specimens direct from the famous team including unique displays that were once marvelously displayed in the hallowed Montreal Forum and later at the Bell Centre are available, with an endless array of legendary and monumental players featured that all proudly once donned the sacred jersey of the mighty Montreal Canadiens.
The first outdoor regular season game saw the Canadiens travel to Edmonton and face off in the cold conditions of Commonwealth Stadium on November 22, 2003. Montreal prevailed that day, winning by a 4-3 margin thanks to a pair of goals from Richard Zednik. This framed piece included two matted photo from the game, including an impressive overhead look at the action. A metal logo commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Oilers arriving in the NHL appears at the top. This piece was framed and produced by Frameworth and there is mild scuffing and scratches on the front side of the frame, which is understandable since it was on presumably sold in the Canadiens boutique. On the reverse, there are no concerns regarding condition. The bottom of the frame has some additional scuffing, but that should not impact how it will look once it is on display. An LOA from Classic Auctions will be included.
