Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Joining once again, in collaboration with the Montreal Canadiens, Classic Auctions is pleased to offer a large collection of artifacts and memorabilia from the storied club's comprehensive archives. A number of historic specimens direct from the famous team including unique displays that were once marvelously displayed in the hallowed Montreal Forum and later at the Bell Centre are available, with an endless array of legendary and monumental players featured that all proudly once donned the sacred jersey of the mighty Montreal Canadiens.
With such a lush history, it is only natural that the Canadiens ask former players to act as ambassadors for the team. Here, we see five of the greatest to don the jersey as Yvan Cournoyer, Maurice Richard, Jean Beliveau, and Henri Richard stand for a formal photo behind team president Ronald Corey. This large print has been matted and features a metallic plate that notes it is a photo featuring Corey and the club’s ambassadors. There is some scuffing and scratches on the front side, which is understandable since it was on display in hockey’s revered temple. On the back, look for three removable narrow pieces of wood which have been affixed by screws to assist in the mounting of the piece. There is rubber adhesive reside found on both, but this should in no way take away from your enjoyment of this unique item. Direct from the archives of the Montreal Canadiens, this framed display was likely displayed at the Montreal Forum and possibly at the Molson Centre/Bell Centre. An LOA from Classic Auctions will be included.
