Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021

An interesting encapsulated Wayne Gretzky three-card lot is up for your consideration here, led chronologically by Wayne's (second-year) 1980-81 O-Pee-Chee card #250, graded 7.5 NM+ by KSA, with a lightly dinged lower right corner the only visible flaw to the perfectly-centered example. A slabbed 1981-82 Oilers Red Rooster "short hair" version (with "Penalties don't help score points" advice) is one that some may not have caught up to in the past. Receiving a pleasing mark of NM-MT 8 from PSA, the card includes a write-up that reads in part, "Not since the days of Bobby Orr has a player so captured the attention of media and fans alike, and it's difficult to imagine what lies ahead for number 99." Indeed, Wayne had the previous season won his first of ten(!) NHL scoring championships and would also later set the seemingly unbreakable mark of 215 points in a single regular season. Completing and featuring a swell shot of Wayne scoring one of his 894 NHL goals is a 1994-95 Score Select card (#83), also graded NM-MT 8 by PSA.
