Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/24/2021
Conn Smythe had his hands involved with a great deal of things for the Maple Leafs and he would often have to put his signature on important or even routine documents. Offered in this lot is a signed “C” form that was done with Wally Maxwell, who skated in two games with the club in 1952-53. Smythe signed it boldly in blue ink and it is accompanied by a note from Hap Day which he initialed. The other piece is an assignment agreement which sent Eugene Martin to the Pittsburgh Hornets. However, Martin skated for the PCHL’s Los Angeles Monarchs in 1949-50 instead. Smythe’s signature appears here with blue ink – fitting for the man who built the Maple Leafs. The note from Day does have some mild creasing and the documents show some age with toning and mild corner wear, but still present quite nicely.
The "C" form and the assignment agreement measure 8.5" x 11" while the note from Day is approximately 8" x 5".
