Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Close to sixty years ago is when Parkhurst produced football cards like these, with players from the "Big Four" IRFU teams - Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and Hamilton - featured, along with 19 instructional (how-to-play-football) cards written by Ted Reeve. Minimal creases are to report in this stack, with pleasing crease-free VG-EX, VG-EX+ and EX cards combining to dominate. Some 15 cards are VG or lower, with a small subtle light corner crease helping to render the key Sam Etcheverry rookie card VG. All player cards are considered RCs, with other notables (all in the nicer group) being Herb Trawick, Red O'Quinn, Virgil Wagner, Vince Scott, Peter Neumann (ST), Bernie Custis and #100-Bobby Simpson, while an EX #1 card also deserves mention. The set includes two different #58 cards and no #62. From a special time in Canadian football history, with the Toronto Argonauts winning that season's Grey Cup thanks to a 21-11 victory over the Edmonton Eskimos.
