Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Joining once again, in collaboration with the Montreal Canadiens, Classic Auctions is pleased to offer a large collection of artifacts and memorabilia from the storied club's comprehensive archives. A number of historic specimens direct from the famous team including unique displays that were once marvelously displayed in the hallowed Montreal Forum and later at the Bell Centre are available, with an endless array of legendary and monumental players featured that all proudly once donned the sacred jersey of the mighty Montreal Canadiens.
The incredible and almost mythical career of Maurice Richard is beautifully captured in this tribute lithograph by renowned Montreal sports artist Michel Lapensee. Hailing from the archives of the Montreal Canadiens, the Rocket is featured prominently with his intense stare that sent fear into goaltenders along with eight memorable moments from his life – including his five-goal night, winning the Stanley Cup, shaking hands with Sugar Jim Henry at the end of the 1952 Stanley Cup Semifinals, and more. At 22” x 27” and limited to 9,999 copies with “376” over the bottom left, Richard has added a black marker signature at the base that displays well. Matted and framed to full dimensions of approx 31” x 36”, there is some light wear to the frame to note. An LOA from Classic Auctions will be included.
