Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021

The rival leagues combine once again in this threesome of unopened O-Pee-Chee wax packs, with the NHL represented by a 10-cent pack from 1976-77 containing the standard eight cards. It received a NM-MT+ 8.5 assessment from GAI, with the wrapper informing of OPC's giant series of 396 cards, with the rookie card of the previous season's rookie-of-the-year, Bryan Trottier most notable in the colorful set. Meanwhile, cards of WHA players from the same season also were found eight-to-a-pack and featured yellow hockey sticks near the right edge. This was the last year that OPC packs cost a dime - bummer. The NM-MT+ 8.5 pack, (with an unidentified Winnipeg Jets player visible on the bottom), is accompanied by a WHA entry from '77-78, graded NM+ 7.5. The cost of a pack increased to 15 cents but contained 12 cards. The '77-78 WHA set shrunk though from the previous 132 cards to just 66. Light scratches to the GAI holders are to mention, along with "what a fun time in hockey history."
