Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
A Stanley Cup champion spanning two decades of NHL hockey, Bryan Trottier first had his name engraved on Lord Stanley’s hardware from 1980 to 1983 with the Islanders, followed by consecutive seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1991 and 1992, with the superstar enjoying his seventh championship as an assistant coach with Colorado in 2001. This lot features Pittsburgh items that all hail from his personal collection including pant shells from the 1991-92 NHL All-Star Game and 1993-94 Penguins, puck-shaped glass displays with etched text for the 1,400th NHL goal (Feb 5, 1992, stamped “Tiffany & Co”) and the 1990 All-Star Game, a full unopened bottle of The Connoisseur champagne with Bryan Trottier 1991 Stanley Cup champions label, 14 signed Penguins pucks, 33 1991 Stanley Cup champions team photo posters (16” x 20”) - with a 34th mounted to board, and five framed displays/photos. A signed LOA from Bryan Trottier will accompany.
The pant shells both show light wear, with the Pens examples having CCM, NHL and Penguins logos affixed. The pucks have all been signed in gold with most having a “1991 Stanley Cup 1992” notation, with light to moderate wear to the Penguins posters with a few showing damage. The small glass displays both show light wear with no issues, and we should note that the champagne bottle can only be picked-up and not shipped – so the winning bidder will either have to pick the lot up, or have the champagne bottle emptied before shipping. Lastly, the framed display include a reproduction of the March 28, 1991 Pittsburgh Post sports section with “Pens Win Division” title and facsimile signatures (23” x 30”, with spotting and wear to the frame), a photo of Trottier skating with the Stanley Cup (13 ½” x 20”, with residue to the glass), a Stanley Cup on-ice team photo (9” x 14”, framed to 13” x 18” with wear to the frame and residue to the glass), an 8” x 10” image of the same earlier photo skating with the Cup (10 ½” x 12 ½”), and a photo of Trottier’s 1991 Stanley Cup ring (8” x 10”).
