Synonymous with greatness, those fortunate enough to have seen Bobby Orr in action during his all-too-brief Hall of Fame career will understand and appreciate the way the Parry Sound wunderkind completely revolutionized the game, becoming the game’s first blueliner to focus on offence as much as defence. The winner of eight (8) straight Norris Trophy’s, Orr would also add the Calder Memorial, Conn Smythe (x2), Hart Memorial (x3) and Art Ross (x2) Trophies to his awards showcase during his career along with two (2) Stanley Cup’s and become one of the biggest and most marketable stars the National Hockey League had ever seen up to that point. With there being no debate in the New England region as to who hockey's greatest player is, the Bruins faithful showed up to the Boston Garden to give their appreciation to Orr on the night of January 9th, 1979, the night that the Bruins raised Bobby's number "4" to the rafters of the legendary arena, prompting an ovation of the crowd that went on so long that portions of the pregame festivities were skipped. Not letting up on the cheering until Orr threw his famed number 4 sweater on to say his thanks, offered here is this Boston Bruins jersey made up by the team for the legendary event.
A heavyweight mesh construction offering made by Stall and Dean that sports "Boston Bruins Pro Hockey Shop" and size "52" labels affixed to the inner collar, a "1976" year tag has been added alongside it (most likely added to commemorate Orr's last season with the Bruins which was 1975-76.) with a washing instructions tag sewn in on the other side. Not the actual jersey worn by Orr during the event (the black and white striping on the sleeves and hem is inverted on the offered jersey as opposed to the one he wore in the actual ceremony), the front of the jersey is decorated with Boston's familiar spoked "B" team crest in layered tackle twill while matching alternate logo crests have been added atop of both shoulders. Void of a fight strap on the interior, the sleeves and verso have been styled with Orr's famed number "4" in dual layer black-over-yellow tackle twill numerals while "Orr" is spelt out in matching style letters across the affixed matching mesh nameplate at the top of the reverse. Remaining in overall excellent condition with just a couple of very small spot stains/marks throughout the body and sleeves, don't miss out on this!
