Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
One of the hardest antique hockey items to locate, quality goal pads produced for pre-war use are virtually non-existent – even within advanced equipment collections, with high-quality specimens originating from the 1920s and earlier especially desirable and highly sought. We offer exactly that, with a pair of high-caliber goal pads produced during the Roaring Twenties, when legendary netminders Georges Vezina, Clint Benedict and Charlie Gardiner were guarding NHL creases. At approx 26” in length and featuring finished black leather bodies with white rawhide accents and burgundy piping, no labels identifying the maker are present, with each pad sporting the two original upper leather straps and buckles. Heavy wear is exhibited on the rarities, with a number of small tears to the material and piping, with a gorgeous overall vintage presence and unlimited display possibilities.
