Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Representatives from four different decades are included here, with three low grade C55s from 1911-12 (all of them rookie cards) leading chronologically. Cards of Hall of Famer Jack Darragh and Bobby Rowe have paper loss (front) and creases, with pen writing affecting the front of Skein Ronan's card. Two entries from the 1930s, also RCs, feature the Canadiens' Wildor Larochelle; 1933-34 Hamilton Gum #14 is F-G, while O-Pee-Chee's #21 from the same season displays like a VG example but is lowered to P by paper loss on the reverse. Sticking with conventional cards, a trio of '52-53 Parkies include 49-Leo Reise (F), 56-Bill Gadsby (P with multiple creases) and 90-Vic Stasiuk (F). Bigger and better are five '39-40 OPC cards measuring 5" by 7" and all right around VG. Included in fancy duds are 4-Gordie Drillon and 5-Bob Davidson of the Maple Leafs, with HOFer Hooley Smith's #21 card the only one with a crease (small crease in lower left corner). Also present are 69-Gus Giesebrecht RC and 89-Dutch Hiller RC. Completing is a cool image of legendary Toronto goalie Turk Broda. His '40-41 OPC issue is free of unsightly creases but is low grade, having once been pasted, with paper loss and black photo album paper hampering the back. A nifty assortment for collectors of vintage material to consider.
