Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
A standout with the blue and white throughout the late-1980s and 1990s, Wendel Clark is a two-time All-Star, with his #17 officially retired by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2016. From his lone season on Long Island, we have a New York Islanders practice jersey with use attributed to Clark, with the possibility existing of use by Darby Hendrickson (Clark was traded to Toronto on March 13, 1996, with Hendrickson who was part of the multi-player deal wearing the #17 for the Isles after Clark). A worn size “56” fly tag is affixed to the collar along with a Maska tag over the inside seam, with embroidered CCM and NHL crests on the reverse hem, with a second embroidered CCM crest and size 56 patch on the front hem. Featuring an Islanders tackle twill team crest encompassed by “Center Ice”, “17” appears over the verso in heat-pressed vinyl, with the orange layer missing segments in the “7” and completely missing from the “1”. Good game-use is exhibited, with burns over each sleeve and some salting to the fight strap clasps from prolonged use.
