Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
Famous Chicago Cubs' first baseman Frank Chance, said to be one of baseball's first player-managers, is shown here beating out an infield hit and is joined by artistic renditions of two of his Chicago teammates. Part of Chance's write-up on the back of the triple folder tells of a fan favorite and of one of the most retiring and unassuming of men in private life. To the left of the Chance picture is John Rowan, a pitcher who suited up very briefly for the Cubs in 1911, taking the mound for two innings in his one and only appearance. Jimmy Archer, the Cubs' top catcher in 1912 and with Chicago for eight seasons, completes the trio, with creasing in the fold to the left contributing to the card's VG-EX 4 assessment by PSA. Please view our consignor's other Tinkers, Evers and Chance-related cards which constitute marvelous opportunities.
