Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023

Splendid images here feature two members of the Chicago Cubs' back-to-back World Series championship teams of 1907 and '08, with the back of the card recounting some of the pair's stats including how Overall threw seventeen (17) shut outs during his run of 48 wins between 1908 and 1910 and how Archer hit .253 in 1911 with a .977 fielding percentage. Additionally, the middle section/card, showing a black and white image of famous second baseman Johnny Evers sliding into third base, is described as "one of the most annoying - to the other side - base stealers among the professionals" on the back side. With no annoying flaws, this example boasts an appealing grade of EX-MT 6 that has been assessed to it from the graders at PSA, with the company's population report telling the tale of how out of the thirty-nine (39) total examples of this card submitted to the company over the years, only three PSA 7's are graded higher than this lovely pop-3 PSA 6 example. Housed in an older style PSA holder, light scratches and scuffs are seen over both sides that are worth mentioning for accuracy.
