Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021

One of the highest Johnny Evers 1909 E101 encapsulated cards on record is offered here and was issued during the season that Evers and his Chicago Cub teammates were two-time defending World Series champions, Chicago defeating the Detroit Tigers in both 1907 and 1908. The depiction of the Cubs’ diminutive second baseman appears on a card that mirrors the E92 sets of the same year and received a mark of VG/EX 4 from SGC. That makes it a Pop 2 on the SGC Population Report and only edged by one EX 5, with 16 total submissions of the Evers example. Similar figures are observed over at PSA, with the company informing of four VG-EX 4s leading the 22 such cards to have been examined and slabbed since its inception.
