Coming off a Stanley Cup victory in 2001, Colorado Avalanche captain Joe Sakic would play in his seventh season with the club, finishing with an impressive 79 points in the 82 games played. Hailing here from the 2001-02 season are these gloves worn by the superstar. Easton Z-Air models in solid black, “Sakic” is printed to the wrist guard on each. Presenting with only light wear, most of it is found on the “Easton” of each glove while both palms show wear in the form of rubbing with the right glove having heavier wear than the left. Sakic has signed each glove with a crisp silver ink signature on the wrist with both displaying without issue. Regarding the aforementioned photo-matches, the gloves are photo-matched to Avalanche practices during the 2002 Western Conference Finals against the Detroit Red Wings. Getty Image #640872 (May 24, 2002) is matched to the wear in “Easton” on the right glove while Getty Image #640691 (May 24, 2002) is matched to the same wear. It cannot be confirmed if the gloves were ever worn in-game though it should be noted that Sakic did wear the same style during playoff games that season. Hailing from the personal collection of an important hockey executive, his signed LOA will accompany.
