The first NHL team in history to win the Stanley Cup the season directly following a relocation; with this a hard pill to swallow for Quebec Nordiques supporters, the Colorado Avalanche finished in first place in the Pacific Division at the conclusion of the inaugural 1995-96 season. The Aves would defeat Vancouver, Chicago and Detroit in the postseason before trouncing the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup final four-straight. This collection comprises 10 signed sticks from Aves players including 8 that are game-issued with Patrick Roy, Joe Sakic, Ray Bourque, Claude Lemieux, Sandis Ozolinsh, Valeri Kamensky, Dave Andreychuk and Jocelyn Thibault, along with player model sticks for Teemu Selanne and Peter Forsberg. Each stick sports the respective player’s name, with no examples game-used. Hailing from the personal collection of an important hockey executive, his signed LOA will accompany.
The breakdown for each stick is as follows; Patrick Roy late-1990s (stamped 1998) KOHO signed in silver across the blade; Jocelyn Thibault 1993-94 (Nordiques) KOHO Revolution signed on the blade in gold marker; Joe Sakic mid-1990s Easton T-Flex signed on the blade in black marker with three other signatures; Ray Bourque early-2000s Sher-Wood PMPX 9950 signed on the blade in black marker; Claude Lemieux circa 1997-98 Titan ASD (possibly just a player model) signed at the toe section of the blade in blue marker; Sandis Ozolinsh late-1990s KOHO signed on the blade in black marker; Valeri Kamensky mid-1990s Sher-Wood PMPX 9950 signed on the blade in black marker; Dave Andreychuk late-1990s/early-2000s CCM Tacks signed on the blade in black marker; Teemu Selanne Titan ASD stick signed on the lower shaft in black marker; Peter Forsberg Titan ASD 7000 stick signed on the blade in black marker.
