Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/21/2020
Forever known as “The Rocket”, Maurice Richard led the Montreal Canadiens through most of the club’s especially succesfull Original Six era, with eight Stanley Cup championships won while earning as many First Team All-Star selections. This lot includes an attractive framed photo signed by the icon, accompanied by a stick graced with his John Hancock. First, the 16” x 20” colour photo depicts a wide-eyed Richard in full flight, resplendent in his Habs finery. Maurice added a later-in-life silver paint pen signature over the left side, with no issues for the autograph. A name plaque has been inserted beneath, double-matted and framed to approx 24” x 30”. The stick is a vintage Westar Pro Select right-handed model, with Richard again scripting a blue marker signature from late in his life, adding his famous “9” and “Rocket”, with light wear to the stick including a partially-detached striping accent. We should also note some wear to the frame, with a COA for the signature affixed to the reverse. Hailing from the personal collection of an important hockey executive, his signed LOA will accompany.
