Starring for the Big Red of Cornell before earning the Calder Memorial as the NHL’s top rookie in 1988, Joe Nieuwendyk skated in the world’s best league for 20 seasons which included winning a trio of Stanley Cup championships with different clubs. The Oshawa native was also awarded the Conn Smythe in 1999, the era the offered signed stick saw use (this particular type of model was used by Nieuwendyk in both 1998-99 and 1999-00). A Sher-Wood SOP model with “Nieuwendyk” stamped to the upper shaft, the original spiral pattern is intact over the handle, with the blade tape removed to facilitate the large and flowing black marker signature. Great game-use is shown, with marks to the blade and wear to the underside, with additional marks including both red and blue paint transfer to the lower shaft.
