Breaking the record the club set the previous season for goals scored, the Edmonton Oilers would dominate the NHL throughout the 1982-83 NHL season. Wayne Gretzky would score his milestone 200th career goal on Oct 9th, with Mark Messier and Jari Kurri both registering their 100th career assist this season. This important historical collection of 35mm colour and b&w Edmonton Oilers negatives from the 1982-83 NHL season totals approx 2,636, with roughly 347 that feature Wayne Gretzky. The breakdown includes approx 2,196 colour negatives and 440 b&w negatives, with 289 colour negatives of Gretzky and 58 b&w negatives of the superstar. Highlights in the collection include over 160 colour and b&w negatives of the Oilers vs the Soviets (Dec 28, 1982) including 16 of Wayne, 26 b&w images of The Great One sitting down to talk to Sports Illustrated (Dec 20, 1982), 150 negatives of images from the Oilers 2nd annual open practice in December of 1982, a small group of up-close images of Mike Bossy and more.
The majority of the negatives remain in excellent condition with no issues, with the contents for each particular game remaining in its own original labeled envelope.
