Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
The Great One had scored a still-record 92 goals and posted his first of four 200-plus point seasons the year before he appeared on the top of O-Pee-Chee display boxes in 1982-83, with this box of 48 unopened packs sure to contain a variety picturing Wayne Gretzky, in the midst of rewriting the NHL record book. Rookie cards of Fuhr, Francis, Hawerchuk, Mullen and Broten are other possibilities, as are grading opportunities, should "busting" be your choice. We do not spot any obvious creases, with a ding/some wear to the (top) upper right corner (to the right of "25¢"), along with light wear to the box bottom (at the corners). The BBCE logo on the shrink wrap does not affect Wayne's image (added bonus!), and the company's label on the bottom includes two important/welcome words; "Tape Intact". Enough said.
Actually, one other detail should be pointed out; the remnants of a peeled-off original price tag can be seen on the front panel of the box, just to the right of "HOCKEY".
