Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
Possessing a talented eye for hockey talent, helping to discover then prospect Gordie Howe, Tommy Ivan coached the Detroit Red Wings for seven seasons which included a trio of Stanley Cup championships, with additional success at the helm of the Chicago Black Hawks, beginning late in 1954. This signed original artwork of the HOF builder has been executed by noted collector and artist Carleton "Mac" McDiarmid. At just over 13” x 15 ½” and on professional illustration board, the work wonderfully depicts Ivan during a moment with the Red Wings. The black ink signature has been personalized to McDiarmid, with Ivan adding “Queen Elizabeth Hotel, 1978”. The signature displays well, with the image matted to roughly 8” x 10”.
