Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
A seldom seen Syl Apps card, part of World Wide Gum's curious 1936-37 issue, headlines this group of pre-war cards. It's Poor with multiple creases but with a legible back and no holes, writing or tears and trails only cards of Morenz, Shore, Conacher and Clancy in terms of value in the 135-card set. The card of fellow Hall of Famer Marty Barry also has creases, although none affecting the image of the Red Wings' star, while a little better are cards of #79-Sammy McManus RC (G+) and 48-Bob Davidson (F), with 81-Paul Runge (P). The rookie card of HOFer Babe Siebert (F) leads the Ice Kings lineup from '33-34, with it and cards of 53-Wally Kilrea RC (F) and 67-John Ross Roach (P) featuring English-only text on the back. Completing the lot and with a bilingual back is the overall condition leader; 35-George Patterson RC is an attractive crease-free VG-EX example.
