Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020

Bobby Orr, the Parry Sound, Ontario native who would leave an impression on the hockey world like no other player, appears here on his coveted 1966-67 Topps rookie card as he embarked on a sensational, all-too-short ten-year run as our sport's most exciting performer. At arm's length and straight-on, this example has the beholder immediately zeroing-in on the attractive, better-than-VG corners, (along with the beauty/near perfect centering) and thinking, wow - only VG 3 in the eyes of PSA(?). However, with a tilt of the (latest PSA) holder and a closer look, creasing in the lower left quadrant is visible; a one-inch horizontal crease is to the left of Bobby's shoulder, just below where the boards and ice meet in the background. Creasing is also in "BOBBY" and above "ORR", with specs of wax stains (chin, neck) also observed. For those old enough to have observed the exploits of Orr, well, they sure made an unforgettable impression!
*This writer, as a 12-year old watching Bobby dominate the 1976 Canada Cup while "playing on one leg", told himself that he must never forget/always remember just how superior Orr was despite the condition of his ravaged knees - incredible. That impression/memory lives on!
