Fantastic opportunity here to acquire a coveted (crease-free) card depicting the pitcher who won more Major League Baseball games than any other, "Cy" Young. A farm boy from Ohio christened "Denton True Young", he went by Dent Young in his early years, breaking into the big leagues with the Cleveland Spiders in 1890 and establishing himself as a hard-thrower. He joined the Boston Americans after the American League declared major league status (1901) and helped Boston beat the Pittsburgh Pirates in the first modern World Series in 1903. Interestingly, a photo picturing Young in his Boston Americans uniform and indentified as being from 1902 features the same image of Cy used for this T206 card. By the T206 years, Young was back home, pitching for the Cleveland Naps (1909-1911) as his career wound down, winning his 500th(!) career game in 1910. Recently inspected and assessed by PSA, the miscut card received a mark of EX 5, along with the "MC" qualifier. The non-historian crowd knows the Cy Young name for the award given annually to top Major League pitchers. A marvellous encapsulated relic, Cy's image and his 511 career wins sure get a guy to thinking!
