Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
The height of American pop culture and the catalyst that began the British Invasion, The Beatles made their famous first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show on Feb 9, 1964, awakening the North American consciousness to “Come Together”. The Fab Four would grace Canada with their presence later that year, making their first visits to Vancouver on Aug 22, followed by Toronto on Sept 7 and Montreal on Sept 8. This lot contains a pair of historically important and seldom seen Beatles tickets from their first appearance in the Great White North, encapsulated by PSA, with each originating from the Sept 7 show at MLG. First, we have an exceedingly rare Press Pass graded GEM MT 10 by PSA, with this the only example graded by the authenticators (this ticket is not to be confused with the differing examples issued for just the press conference, with this ticket allowing the press to watch the concert), followed by a regular ticket stub to the event graded “Authentic” by PSA.
The press pass has the date of the event and venue listed along with “The Beatles”, with the date also listed on the authentic stub. The press pass displays beautifully, with some toning and creasing to the stub along with a rough torn edge and clipped corner.
