Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
Featuring two of the greatest players in NFL history regardless of their positions as superstar quarterbacks, Johnny Unitas and Joe Namath are both recognized for their unrivaled Hall of Fame careers, with Unitas serving as the NFL’s most valuable player thrice throughout his lengthy career, while Namath was the unquestionable MVP at Super Bowl III. This lot contains a pair of footballs individually signed by the Golden Arm and Broadway Joe. First, the Unitas ball is a Wilson official NFL football, with Johnny signing in silver, with the large autograph displaying especially well. The Namath ball is also a Wilson official NFL football, with painted polychrome graphics added listing the particulars of Super Bowl III (there is some wear to the paint and minor chipping), with Joe signing “Joe Willie Namath” on the panel directly beneath in black marker. A PSA/DNA sticker numbered “K09807” has been added to the Unitas ball with a COA to accompany (the sticker has been moved and is somewhat loose), while an LOA from JSA will accompany for the Namath ball. We should also note that each will come in a wood and plastic display case (15” x 9” x 8 ½”, each shows wear).
