Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
A great chance here to score not one but two near sets of Parkhurst's scarce 1952 Canadian Football League issue, with all cards considered rookie cards and featuring "Big Four" IRFU players from Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and Hamilton, along with 19 instructional cards. The first group averages VG with corner wear and usually not creases the grade-lowering flaw, with however Alouette keys Sam Etcheverry, Red O'Quinn and Virgil Walker, along with Ti-Cat Vince Scott, among the lower cards at F-G and the same holding true for the second lot, the latter overall a little lesser condition-wise. Herb Trawick, Bruce Coulter, Peter Neumann, Bernie Custis and #100-Bobby Simpson are other notable contributors, with more details on our website.
The set does not have a card #62 but two different #58s, with 58A-Cec Findlay missing from both groups here and 77-Buck Rogers the other required to finish the first set. Additional cards not present in the second batch are #s 5, 8, 67, 83 and 95. Also to note are half a dozen in the first group and a dozen in the second that have 2-3-4 little ink marks on the left edge, not really noticeable at first but more so when the cards are in a pile, with however none of the key star cards so affected. Numerous possibilities with these coveted collectibles from nearly 70 years ago.
