Awarding each season’s playoff champion with the Paul W. Loudon Trophy, the USHL operated from 1945 to 1951 and featured clubs from numerous areas of the United States. The 1949-50 USHL season featured six clubs, with the Minneapolis Millers defeating the Omaha Knights for the title. Originating from the incomparable autograph collection of E. Robert Hamlyn, we have team-signed sheets from three of the six 1949-50 USHL clubs including the finalist Knights, Tulsa Oilers and St Paul Saints, along with an additional signed sheet for the 1950-51 Tulsa Oilers, and a 1971-72 Oilers program signed on the cover. At approx 5” x 7”, each card stock sheet features signatures placed in two vertical rows, with the team/year listed on the front. Standouts include HOFer Marcel Pronovost and coach Mud Bruneteau for the Knights, HOFer and coach Clint Smith for the Saints and Bud Poile for the 1950-51 Oilers. The 1970-71 Oilers program has been signed on the cover by Joe Lundrigan.
Each signature has been scripted in ink, with the majority displaying beautifully despite being somewhat bunched-up. The card stock sheets all show wear including toning and creasing, with residue on each reverse from scrapbook removal. The program has a section of the cover cut away, and otherwise sports moderate wear.
