Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
A post-war revival of the American Hockey Association, the United States Hockey League operated from 1945 to 1951 and featured the Paul W. Loudon Trophy awarded to each seasons playoff champion. The 1947-48 USHL season featured eight clubs, with the Houston Huskies defeating the Minneapolis Millers for the title. Originating from the incomparable autograph collection of E. Robert Hamlyn, we have team-signed sheets from five of the eight 1947-48 USHL clubs including the champion Huskies, Kansas City Pla-Mors, Fort Worth Rangers, Tulsa Oilers and Dallas Texans. At approx 5” x 7”, each card stock sheet features signatures placed in two vertical rows, with the team listed along the top or on the reverse. Standouts include Ducky Skinner (Huskies), HOFers Bert Olmstead (Pla-Mors), Clint Smith (Coach of Tulsa), Jake Milford (Texans) and Jack Butterfield (Rangers’ business manager), along with Reg Hamilton (Coach Pla-Mors).
The Huskies sheet has been signed by 17 in a single row with an address affixed, the Pla-Mors by 17 in two different inks, the Texans by 17 with an address affixed, the Rangers by 18 and the Oilers by 19. The sheets themselves sport toning along with a few creases.
