Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2020
With just a mere 15 jersey numbers retired by the Montreal Canadiens over the past century, only those paramount players achieving status as one of the game’s all-time greatest can hope to be honoured as such. Sharing the rafters of the Bell Center with iconic Habs’ Howie Morenz, Maurice Richard and Georges Vezina, Guy Lafleur was honoured in 1985, and we offer a retirement banner replica signed by the legendary Hab, accompanied by a signed and framed jersey. At approx 48” in length (widest points), the vinyl dual-sided banner features the iconic “10” worn by Lafleur, with his career years listed along the base (1971-85). Guy has signed one side in gold, adding “5 Stanley Cups”, with “3/10” listed beneath to show the edition is limited. The framed KOHO #10 Canadiens jersey has been signed across the team crest in thin black ink, with accents added in Habs’ colours to the background, framed to approx 37” x 40”. A framed LOA signed by Guy Lafleur will accompany for the banner (15 ½” x 16”).
As mentioned, the banner LOA has been framed, with a name plaque added along with a photo of Lafleur holding one of the banners, with the LOA signed in ballpoint. We should also note that there is some faint spotting over both sides of the banner, with this most noticeable when held at an angle. The signature on the jersey displays well, with light wear to the frame.
