Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2020
The Montreal Canadiens dominate this group of Quaker Oats photos and we’ll lead with the eight autographed examples, highlighted by the signed pictures of Maurice Richard and Butch Bouchard, the latter autographing two different images. Others to sign their respective photos are fellow Hall of Famers Bert Olmstead and Tom Johnson, as well as Glen Harmon, John McCormack and Dollard St. Laurent, with all autographs in difficult-to-hope-for-nicer condition. There are then some three dozen Canadiens entries free of nasty flaws, with almost-standard light bends to mention. Notables include Maurice Richard (action), Blake (auto above stick), Durnan (knob of stick cropped), Geoffrion, Harvey (action), Lach (stick in corner), McCormack (action vertical) and Moore, with 40 others with some type of condition issue. They may include one or more of the following: pinholes, creases, tears, tape, writing on the back. Worthy of mention are Beliveau (two punch holes), Blake (2)(autograph below skates, retouched photo), Campeau, Curry (still), Durnan (2)(action, knob of stick touches border), Gravelle (3 different), Laycoe (portrait), McMahon, Robertson (action) and Warwick (Poor – back damage and missing upper left corner). Finally, Maple Leafs representatives total 14, with all either low grade or not noteworthy. Always interesting are batches of good old Quaker Oats photos.
