Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2020
Joining 14 others venerated within the pantheon of the mighty Montreal Canadiens, Bob Gainey witnessed his #23 Habs jersey raised to the rafters of the Bell Center, on Feb 23, 2008, never to be worn again. Hailing from his personal collection, we have a great group of Gainey retirement night items including a presentation watch, a game-used puck display, official game pucks, mini banners and more. First, we have a Birks presentational watch with rosewood display box, with Gainey’s “23” over the dial along with a Habs logo, with “23” and “Bob Gainey” engraved over the reverse. A plaque has been added to the 7” x 5” x 3” box with the particulars engraved including “1973-1989”, “Bob Gainey” and “February 23, 2008”. The game-used puck display is 7” in height, with a Gainey retirement night puck game-used and mounted, with tape around the puck with handwritten particulars. The base has a plaque affixed, with the display presenting wonderfully. A signed LOA from Bob Gainey will accompany.
Also included, there are 12 official game pucks from that night, 4 programs, 3 mini banners, a DVD group of 5, a multi-signed Habs t-shirt and more! The watch remains in gorgeous condition, with wear and oxidation to the affixed metal plaque on the display box, and light wear including a few scratches to the box itself. The game-used puck display shows no issues, with the pucks, banners and programs in the group in excellent condition. Two of the DVD videos also have their original cases.
