Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2020

Hundreds of frosted glass panels form a massive wall at the rear of the Great Hall in Toronto's Hockey Hall of Fame. Two identical panels were produced, one for the wall, and the other to give to the honoured member, in this case Montreal Canadiens’ great Bob Gainey. This HOF dual-pane glass panel originates from the personal collection of the 1979 Conn Smythe winner and measures 12" x 12". Featuring a bust-length image of Gainey, the English and French biography text points out that the defensive forward won the Frank J Selke Trophy an impressive four times over the course of his Hall of Fame career, along with five Stanley Cup championships. It also indicates that this panel was presented to him when the Hall of Fame relocated to its current home, in 1993. A signed LOA from Bob Gainey will accompany this unique HOF treasure.
Exhibiting light surface wear to the panels, we should note that the back glass was changed along with the four pins that attach the two panels, with this done by the company that originally produced each. There is a bit of glue residue visible where each pin has been secured, with a small piece of clear tape added to the back glass along the bottom left.
