Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
The best of 30 teams playing in the 2000-01 NHL season, the Colorado Avalanche would finish first overall and cruise through the playoffs before defeating Martin Brodeur and the New Jersey Devils in a heavily contested 7-game finals. Team leading scorer Joe Sakic would take home the Hart Memorial and Lady Byng Trophies, with Hall of Fame defenceman Ray Bourque capturing his lone championship in his final NHL season. This unawarded 2001 Stanley Cup championship trophy was produced by Boffey, and is similar to the examples awarded to each member of the Colorado Avalanche by the NHL in a tradition dating back to 1958. Standing a majestic 13” and mounted to a wooden base with brown felt underside, the names of the men who made it happen are engraved in three rows beneath the team executives, with “Colorado Avalanche” and “2000-01” engraved above.
Remaining in gorgeous condition with just very light surface wear in spots, there is also a 2” scratch near the top of the engraved text, with a couple very minor blemishes beneath the rim.
