Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2020
Considered hockey’s golden age, the Original Six era encompassed a quarter-century of competitive hockey, beginning at the onset of the American involvement during the Second World War in 1942, and concluding with the original NHL expansion, in 1967. Celebrating that historic period, we have a substantial limited-edition framed Original Six giclee print on canvas signed by one of the era’s greatest superstars Jean Beliveau, with this desirable work hailing from the legend’s personal collection. Depicting laundry day at the home of a hockey fan, sweaters from each of the Original Six clubs hang from a clothesline as a gust of wind adds life and movement. Jean has signed beneath the Habs sweater in blue marker, with the signature a pleasing example. Numbered “4/100” over the bottom left, the canvas has been framed to 17” x 45”, with an LOA from the Beliveau family to accompany.
