Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2020
A fan favourite during his decade in Montreal with the Expos, Gary Carter was one of the premier backstops in Major League Baseball, with the eleven-time All-Star earning three Gold Glove Awards and five Silver Slugger titles during his Hall of Fame career. This bat was used by the 1984 National League RBI leader during his time with the Expos in the late-1970s, circa 1977-79. A Hillerich & Bradsby Louisville Slugger P89 signature model, the 35” lumber sports a taped handle (with added pine tar), with “8” handwritten over the knob (lines appear to have been first added to the knob beneath the “8”) and barrel end. Uncracked, the bat exhibits light game use, with a few compression marks visible over the barrel. All proceeds from the sale of this lot will go to the Kat D DIPG Foundation at the Montreal Children’s Hospital.
