Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2020
Already a hockey "giant" before he appeared in Parkurst's set of "giant" cards 1953-54 was Jean Beliveau, with the write-up on the back of his rookie card mentioning his five goals during a three-game call-up the previous season and ending off with "Considered by pundits to be the "star of tomorrow"". After starring in senior hockey with Quebec, it didn't take long for big Jean to prove himself in the NHL, winning the scoring championship and Hart Trophy in '55-56. One of the most important rookie cards of the 1950s is Beliveau's, with this example graded 5 EX by KSA. Crease-free card exhibits toning, somewhat rounded lower corners and a stain on the reverse to be aware of.
The holder itself has but a small scratch on the back to mention.
