Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2020
Similar to their hockey counterparts of the same year which are more difficult to locate than Imperial Tobacco's two previous issues are these black and white lacrosse cards, with a chance to acquire a near set seldom surfacing. Two-sport star Newsy Lalonde leads in importance and condition, with his crease-free example VG-EX. Original Montreal Canadiens Jack Laviolette (G) and Joe Cattarinich (VG), Hockey Hall of Fame goaltender Clint Benedict (F) and HHOF referee Mickey Ion (P) are other most notables. Among the rest, a dozen VGs are best, with F to G dominating and a half dozen P completing. Fantastic images/uniforms to peruse, notably the winged-wheel sweaters of the Montreal A.A.A., the same organization first to win the Stanley Cup.
The two cards required to complete the set are numbers 33 and 35. Also to note is that all backs are problem-free and legible.
