Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2020
Featuring a pair of prairie boys from Saskatchewan that both tended NHL nets during the glorious 1950s, we have a Windsor Spitfires OHA player certificate from 1950-51 signed by a teenage Glenn Hall, along with a handwritten and signed letter from Charlie Rayner during his first season with the New York Americans, in 1940-41. The player’s certificate is 3 ½” x 6”, with Hall’s particulars handwritten in blue including his 1948-49 and 1949-50 teams, with the HOF member signing in black. Dated Oct 10, 1950, the card shows light to moderate surface wear, with a stamp from the OHA over the reverse. The four-page letter is on Hotel Piccadilly letterhead and dated March 5, 1941, with much of the correspondence regarding hockey. Rayner has signed in black fountain pen, with the still dark signature somewhat bunched-up under text along the bottom of the final page. The letter itself exhibits light wear and toning, along with fold lines.
