Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2020
In the eyes of many, the most beautiful of all hockey cards are those produced by Topps in its initial hockey issue, with this set featuring a vast majority of appealing crease-free cards. EX+ and EX-MT examples dominate, with light wear/white specs at the bottom corners. A smaller percentage would be considered EX, with a few NMs present. The key Howe card is easily EX+ in our eyes, while the Sawchuk is one of the condition exceptions; small light creases (bottom portion) help send it to G+. Worsley (VG+), the last card, 60-Schmidt (G), Mohns and McKenney RCs (VG+) and a couple of commons are also notable but overall, quite uniform condition, with varying degrees of toning on the backs. The colors, especially on Red Wings cards, are almost(!) breathtaking.
Also to note is the apparent light bleeding of blue ink on the backs, observed throughout and right around the card numbers.
