Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
A city of champions, a number of legendary clubs and players have emerged from our nation’s capital, with both the Ottawa Senators hockey team and Ottawa Rough Riders football club iconic within each of their respective sports. We have a pair of framed Ottawa composite team photos, both by Hands Studio, with an example for the 1925-26 Ottawa Rugby Club (17” x 22”), along with a photo of the 1933-34 Ottawa-New Edinburgh Canoe Club Hockey Team (12 ½” x 16 ½”). The rugby photo feature’s four members of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame, with Eddie “E.K.” Emerson (charter member), James P. McCaffrey (inducted 1967), Robert “Joe” Tubman (inducted 1968) and Dr. Andrew P. Davies (inducted 1969). The hockey photo feature’s the full team and management, with the club the “Ottawa City and District Senior Amateur Hockey Champions” for 1933-34.
Both photos show just light wear and toning, with some additional wear to the frames. We should also note that the rugby photo includes Thomas Clancy, father of King Clancy, and a legend in Ottawa football lore.
