Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
It's legend after legend from our consignor's fabulous encapsulated treasures, with another iconic player/coach/manager who spent his life in hockey, Lester Patrick, appearing here in a thought-provoking pose on a C57 card. Like Art Ross, Patrick was a terrific player, captaining the Montreal Wanderers to Stanley Cup titles in 1906 and '07, and being offered lofty amounts of money (Renfrew) for his services. Later, he founded the Pacific Coast Hockey League with his brother Frank, approaching hockey as a business, luring players from the east. The Patricks had players put numbers on their sweaters, bettering fans' experience. Lester also left a New York Rangers/NHL legacy. Offered is an inviting VG-EX 4 example of card #41, with the Pop 6 edged by eight of 30 other similar cards to have been inspected by PSA.
