Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019

A trio of delectable and important cards from the coveted C57 set is led numerically by the rookie card of Hall of Fame goaltender Clint Benedict, the man who backstopped his hometown Ottawa Senators to three Stanley Cup championships in four years, (1920, '21, '23) and who later helped the Montreal Maroons to a Cup title during an 18-year career. Benedict was the first, although briefly, to wear a mask in a NHL game. One of the C57 set’s two key rookie cards, the Benedict here has earned EX 5 recognition from PSA and is one of the highest graded Benedict RCs ever examined by the firm. PSA figures reveal that the (Pop 2) is bettered by just three others (an EX-MT 6 and two EX+ 5.5s) in PSA history, with 36 total submissions of card #3 in the past.
